Loan Locations
WMI serves over 1,000 villages in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania through various loan hub locations. We partner with registered, village-level, women-focused groups that administer the loan program in each hub. These women's groups and their staff, whom we train, are our valued link to the community: they are key to the loan program's success.
WMI invests heavily in local human-capacity building so that the women leaders in each hub location have the skills to manage day-to-day program operations. When WMI starts a new loan hub the women often begin by meeting in a local church or school. As the loan hub grows, WMI invests in infrastructure, constructing offices and meeting halls, supplying chairs and tables, so that the women in the loan program have a place to call their own.
